The premiere of "Attack on Titan" season 2 is expected to be in April 2017 at the earliest, contrary to the reports of a February release date.

Japan employs a specific release schedule when it comes to its television programming. There are four cycles in a year that determine the beginning and duration of the shows, each lasting three months each.

This means that new shows begin during the months of January, April, July, and October. As far as "Attack on Titan" season 2 is concerned, January is out of the question, because if it is the month the show will arrive, it should have already been announced by this time.

Since Wit Studio promised a spring 2017 return for the series, April is the likeliest month the new season of the hit anime will drop.

If that will be the case, it won't be long before "Attack on Titan" season 2 finally sees the light of day. Fans have been waiting for two years now with the first season having ended in 2014.

As for the storylines to expect in the new season, manga readers know very well that the first season covered the first four arcs of the manga (down to the "Female Titan" story arc) by Hajime Isayama.

There is no word on the number of episodes to expect in "Attack on Titan" season 2, but if Wit Studio will have the same pacing and number of installments as the first season, it is likely that the next season will cover the "Clash of the Titans" and "Uprising" arcs.

However, with tons of material already available to adapt, and the studio actually delaying the anime for the manga to beef up, it could be that "Attack on Titan" season 2 will feature more episodes than the first one, which had 25.
