Audio Technica AT-892 Microset Low Profile Headworn Microphone

Headset microphones have either been large and bulky usually with a large golf ball sized windshield over the microphone making them unsuitable for church use or small, slim and expensive. The new Audio Technica AT-892 micro-headset is a high quality, low profile system but at a price that is more accessible to churches.

The AT-892 micro-headset is ideal for overcoming the difficulties of getting a sufficient amount of level before feedback that occur with a conventional lavalier or tie-clip microphone. The position of the microphone along the side of the cheek, much closer to the source of the sound you are trying to amplify, gives a much higher signal to noise ratio resulting in a higher level before feedback. The vocal reproduction and intelligibility of the small capsule is exceptional giving a very natural sound with little EQ.

Having tested the microphone in different venues and situations from small lecture rooms to large events, from preachers to ventriloquists we have had nothing but positive feedback as to the comfort, discreteness and level achievable.

The microphone is available in black, beige or cocoa to blend in with different skin tones and with the capsule being only 2.5mm in diameter is inconspicuous and ideal for church and event applications. The light weight design and mouldable ear clip ensure that the headset is comfortable to wear over a long period. Once you’ve had the mic on for a few minutes you really do forget that it’s there.

The headset can be purchased with terminations to suit wireless belt packs from Audio Technica, Shure and Sennheiser or can be purchased un-terminated if you have the expertise to wire it into a system from another manufacturer.

Prices vary depending on the connection that you require but are in the range £200-£300 + VAT
