The second half of "Awkward' season 5, which is also quite possibly their last season, has not been scheduled for a premiere date yet but fans of the MTV show don't mind waiting patiently for its return.

The show's midseason finale left a lot of questions unanswered. Now that the entire Palos Hills gang is transitioning into college and adulthood, there is definitely going to be a lot of drama involved.

According to MTV News, season 5B of "Awkward" will feature a time jump of one year. That means the show will have to fill viewers in on the events that transpired over the course of that year.

The last episode of the first half of season 5 left fans feeling confused, as Matty, played by Beau Mirchoff, and Ashley Rickards' Jenna discover that they have always been in love with each other and decide to make it work. But Jenna's last words were anything but comforting.

Jenna and Matty's on-and-off relationship has been rocky at best, but "Awkward" season 5B will hopefully show the pair in a much happier state. However, it looks like that won't be the case.

"Beau did such a good job with how he takes his character and all the different emotional depths. It gets dark for Matty and it gets dark for Jenna, and confusing," Rickards told TooFab in an interview. "You know, the stakes get higher as we get older. So these characters that we're used to seeing make a little mistake, their mistakes become bigger and have bigger repercussions."

Exactly how dark it's going to be is unclear at this point.

But Jenna and Matty aren't the show's only focus. The rest of the Palos Hills teens would have also changed a lot by the time season 5B rolls around. Jillian Rose Reed's character Tamara will even reportedly look very different.

Right now, there has been no news confirming the teen comedy's renewal for a sixth season, but fans, as well as Rickards, remain hopeful.
