Tactical Roleplaying Game (RPG) "Banner Saga 3" is slated for a summer 2018 release, and recently, the first character trailer has been released. The trailer featured Fasolt from the Varl race.

The video was uploaded to The Banner Saga's YouTube channel on Jan. 23. A little over a minute long, the trailer served as both a character and race introduction. "Embodies fierce loyalty," was the first thing used to describe Fasolt. He was a war commander for one of the previous kings and fought in many battles prior to the game. During one of his biggest battles, people presumed Fasolt had died, however he disappeared because he was leading his last army of Varls to the human capital to fight against them and sever the Varl-Human alliance. The trailer ended with an ominous note, questioning whether or not Fasolt would make amends or follow through with his threats and fight till the bitter end.

The first in a series of character vignettes, gamers looking forward to "Banner Saga 3" can expect more character highlight videos in the future.

"Banner Saga 3" started as an idea on crowd-funding website Kickstarter. It quickly met its goals due to the success of its first two games. According to PC Gamer, "Banner Saga 3" made over $400,000 when its goal was merely to gather $200,000. After the funding period, the game eventually released a key art trailer on Oct. 16, 2017. The short 33 second trailer feature some of the game's art alongside a snippet of voice acting. Not much else regarding plot or in-game mechanics were mentioned.

The first "Banner Saga" game was released in 2014. Developed by Stoic, the game was met with very positive ratings on game distribution platform Steam. "Banner Saga 2" was met with similar positive reviews, which lead the developers to start working on a third game.

Both "Banner Saga" and "Banner Saga 2" are available for purchase on the Steam store.
