The previous episode of "Bates Motel" saw Norman Bates (Freddie Highmore) taken back to the mental institute after his escapade with Julian (Marshall Allman) in the strip club. According to the official synopsis for season 4 episode 5 from TV Guide, it appears he'll try a new tactic this time around, but even this plan may backfire.

According to the episode synopsis, Norman will try to play a new set of mind games to convince Dr. Edwards (Damon Gupton) that Norman isn't the one with a mental problem and that it is his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) that they should all fear and criminalize. However, this plan may fail when he reveals a little too much information.

It is unclear if this revelation is true or if it is only in Norman's head. The series has begun to push Norman's psyche beyond the edge more and more and the character is now blacking out more often than not, making it difficult for the audience to determine when he is sane and when he's losing his mind.

Fans speculate that by the end of the season, Norman will be able to convince the institution to let him go, and when Norman gets home, he may end up shooting Norma and Sheriff Romero (Nestor Carbonell), setting up the events in "Psycho."

Another important plot point hinted at in the synopsis is that Romero will discover something related to a crime that will change his life's direction for good. According to Vine Report, it is likely that this discovery will revolve around Audrey's (Karina Logue) earrings, which may make Romero suspect Norman's involvement in Audrey's death.

The synopsis also reveals Norma will be hiring a craftsman to repair one of the broken windows and it is speculated that this will unravel yet another mystery surrounding the motel or introduce a new problem that Norma will need to deal with.

"Bates Motel" season 4 episode 5 airs this April 11.
