The latest trailer for "Bates Motel" season 4 indicates that this may be the season Norman (Freddie Highmore) murders his mother Norma (Vera Farmiga) as their relationship reaches its final breaking point.

[Spoiler ahead]

Fans of the series know that the whole show is all building up to the 1960 classic film "Psycho," albeit shifting the time period to the modern day. One of the key events that lead to the film's premise is the death of Norma, who was murdered by her son. Out of grief and insanity, he later on takes her persona as his own.

The trailer from A&E reveals Norman starting to scare his mother and eventually tells her that she is "dead to him." There are several scenes depicting a dead person, including one of a woman being buried, and it is highly speculated that this may be Norman burying his mother in a temporary grave.

Another key scene in the trailer is Norman donning his mother's clothes and eventually seeing himself transform into the image of his mother while looking at the mirror. A report from Entertainment Weekly released an official still of this scene, one which includes Norma and Norman together as they look at their reflection.

"The only reason she is not achieving her goals is looking back at her," Farmiga said regarding the released promo photo. "I think that she realizes there are only a couple mistakes that one can make along the road to truth: Not starting, and not going all the way. I think she's going to go all the way."

When it comes to Norman, however, Farmiga stated that his view of this same image is radically different and that it is this misunderstanding of the truth that will drive them further apart.

"Bates Motel" season 4 premieres this March 7.
