Cast and crew of the drama- thriller "Bates Motel", a spin-off of Alfred Hitchcock's "Psycho", announced that Season 5 will be the last installment of the series. Although the series found huge success, executive producers have planned out the storyline from the beginning to end and remained firm not to further stretch the show to retain its value.

Fans were devastated because of the death of Norma (Vera Fermiga). In season 4, she was murdered by her son Norman (Freddie Highmore) because of his worsening mental condition.

The producers revealed that in season 5, Norman will be entering in his all-out psychopatic tendencies and further delves into his hallucination of "Mother" in his mind. So fans can still see Fermiga's portrayal of Norma, although it would be a slightly different character compared to the real unimagined version of her.

In an article by Independent, executive producer Carlton Cuse said: "The final season of the show would really be Norman in his full-blown psychopathology, more like the character in the movie - but that doesn't mean that Norma will not have a role. In fact, she has a huge role but she'll be Norman's imagining of her."

In the San Diego Comic Con panel, executive producer Kerry Ehrin teased that fans will get to see a 'more intimate' Norma. They will also air the clips of a more racy 'Norman and Norma moments' that were supposed to be revealed in the past seasons.

Max Theriot, who portrays Norman's half brother Dylan Massett, will also be having his directorial debut for an episode of Bates Motel while Highmore will co- write the second episode with Cuse and Ehrin, according to an article by Yibada.

Viewers also anticipate Rihanna's portrayal of Marion Crane and whether the series will follow Psycho's shower death scene where Marion, who was then portrayed by Janet Leigh, was stabbed to death.

Bates Motel season 5 will return on March 2017.
