"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" had multiple references to the villain Darkseid, arguably one of the most powerful antagonists in the entire line from DC. Warner Bros. Pictures has now released a short clip of one of the film's deleted scenes, giving more insight into Lex Luthor's (Jesse Eisenberg) connection with the villain.

The deleted scene occurs right after Superman (Henry Cavill), Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and Batman (Ben Affleck) defeat Doomsday. A squad of SWAT members are seen raiding the Kryptonian ship where Lex made Doomsday using General Zod's (Michael Shannon) body.

Before they arrest Lex, the clip reveals him communicating with what appears to be a large alien entity swirling three metal boxes in the air. These metal boxes, according to a report from Screen Rant, are reminiscent of the Mother Box seen in the clip where Cyborg (Ray Fisher) was assembled. After a few moments the boxes and the alien dissipate.

The clip then cuts to Lex Luthor appearing dismayed and in fear. According to the report, this may be how Lex is aware of Darkseid arriving in the upcoming "Justice League: Part One" film. Lex even warns Batman about this when he is in prison at the end of the movie, stating, "He is coming," in a lost, psychotic rage.

According to the report, the Mother Boxes can be used for teleportation and for communicating, which would explain how Lex got to communicate with the alien messenger. How a Mother Box was used to form Cyborg's body, however, remains to be seen, although in the New 52 comic books something similar did occur.

This deleted clip is but one of many that were taken out of the theatrical cut of the film. As stated in a report from Collider, an R-rated cut of the film is set to be released when the film is launched for home viewing on the digital market, DVD and Blu-Ray, and this cut of the film contains over 30 minutes of deleted content such as the one involving Lex.
