In 1989, teens flocked to cinemas to watch "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure," featuring Alex Winter as Bill S. Preston Esq. and a happy-go-lucky Keanu Reeves as Ted "Theodore" Logan. The film's sequel, "Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey," cemented the characters in pop culture lore. Now, moviegoers can look forward to seeing the two actors together onscreen again as they reprise their lovable characters in "Bill and Ted 3," a film currently in development.

Reeves is now known for his more serious, action-oriented films such as "The Matrix" movies, "Speed," and "John Wick," while Winter is now an acclaimed writer and director for several documentaries including "Downloaded," which tells the story of the infamous downloading site Napster, and "The Deep Web."

Speaking to The Next Web, Winter was asked what it's liked to be Bill again 26 years after the first film, and the filmmaker said that he still gets asked a lot of questions about his character, and that he doesn't mind when people ask him about the film.

"It's been such a basic part of my life. I'm now at a point where I've spent more time dealing with it than not. I have no issue with it — that's why we started putting another one together," he told the website.

While the 50-year-old actor said that he is older, Bill is not, and that's what makes the upcoming film funnier.

"The fun thing about them is that they're ageless …Their mannerism and physicality are not tied to age. We played them like 9-year old kids," he added.

Winter said that Bill and Ted will still have child-like qualities, and the third installment "will be funnier because they're older."

Prior to "Bill and Ted 3," Winter and Reeves reunited professionally for the first time in 22 years, with Reeves providing the narration for Winter's new documentary "The Silk Road."

A premiere date for "Bill and Ted 3" has yet to be announced.
