A man wrote to evangelist Billy Graham, saying he is worried about becoming a "religious fanatic." He said this is the reason why he does not regularly attend church services. At the same time, he prefers having his weekends free instead of having to dedicate that time for God.

Graham says the man has the wrong idea about being a Christian. "I don't know how you decided that Christians are unbalanced, or that God doesn't want us to enjoy life, but you're wrong. Jesus said, 'I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full' (John 10:10)," Graham writes in his column for The Kansas City Star.

It's clear that God is missing in the man's life, says Graham, and it's sad that God means very little to him since he always has excuses not to deepen his relationship with God. However, Graham is warning him of the consequences of living a life without God.

"Yes, right now life seems stable and happy, but what of the future? Where will you turn if illness strikes, or some other disaster threatens to overtake you? And even now, to whom can you turn when you face major decisions and don't know which way to go?" he asks.

"If God didn't love you, then your feelings about Him might be justified. But God does love you and your family, and He wants what is best for you. The proof is that He sent His Son into the world to give His life for us," Graham says.

He tells the man to stop deceiving himself. Instead of being consumed by regret later for not taking the right road with God, Graham says he needs to turn to Jesus Christ right now and invite Him into his life.
