As promised by Blizzard, the "Overwatch" League is now putting its final touches before the newest eSports gaming league commences in January 2018. At its annual fan event BlizzCon in Anaheim, California, Blizzard announced all the details regarding its first season and how the excitement will pan out throughout the entire duration of the league.

According to "Overwatch" League commissioner Nate Nanzer, "During the regular season, each team will play twice per week across four game days. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, with three matches played each day. We mixed up the start times each day so we could reach as many of you around the world as possible."

The first official match will start on Jan. 10, although pre-exhibition matches will start as early as Dec. 6 to 9 this year. TechRadar reported that the season will be split into four stages. Each stage lasts five weeks with a 10-day break between stages. Each stage will play matches on eight different maps.

There are 12 teams involved in the league, with half in the Atlantic division and the other in Pacific division. Throughout the entire season, an expected of 40 matches will be played by each team; half will be played in their own division and the other half will be inter-divisional. Most games will commence in the Blizzard Arena located in Los Angeles, California.

A cash prize worth $1 million awaits the winning team, which will be determined on the play-offs after the regular season starting on July 11 next year. At this point, only six teams will vie for the championship title in the grand finals, which will take place on July 26 to 28.

"Overwatch" is a team-based multiplayer online first-person shooter video game released in May 2016 for Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One; and is both published and developed by Blizzard Entertainment. Fans can watch the matches on the "Overwatch" League website, and Blizzard even announced a companion mobile app to go with the league, although the release date has not been announced yet.
