"Bloodline" will now come to an end. The Netflix original series will have its last run in May 2017 and the upcoming season will be its final act.

According to Variety, Netflix's vice president of original content Cindy Holland issued a statement to the publication confirming the rumors that have been buzzing around. Holland also added: "Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman and Glenn Kessler are thoughtful and visionary storytellers, who lead a prestigious cast, that includes Kyle Chandler and Ben Mendelsohn, who have both garnered two Emmy nominations for their roles on the series. Together, with our collaborative partners at Sony Pictures Television, they created a seductive show that Netflix viewers worldwide love and continue to discover. We are looking forward to the exciting climax KZK have in store for the series conclusion in May 2017."

Season 3 will consist of only 10 episodes, instead of 13, with Sony Pictures Television still producing the show. The series was originally programmed to have up to six seasons, but it remains unclear if Sony will try to shop around for a new home.

It remains unknown if the production cost had something to do with the decision of Netflix for cancelling the show. According to Vulture, an episode of the show cost approximately $7 to $8.5 million per hour. The total cost for the 33 episodes was between $231 and $289. However, the series failed to bring in viewers' engagement despite good reviews and Emmy nominations.

Fans are now speculating that "Bloodline" season 3 will all be about the consequences that the Rayburns have done in the past. Danny (Ben Mendelsohn) will be back as a figment of his son Nolan's (Owen Teague) imagination. Danny was murdered by his own brother John (Kyle Chandler) so that the family business will flourish. Nolan will now have to weigh if he will follow the footsteps of his father or he will be better than his father. The whole Rayburn family is involved in the drug business.

The final season of "Bloodline" will premiere in May 2017, however no exact air date has been set yet.
