'Bones' season 11 spoilers: 'Sleepy Hollow' crossover is all set

The crossover between "Bones" and "Sleepy Hollow" has been confirmed for a fall release.Fox

A crossover between "Bones" and "Sleepy Hollow" this coming season is now confirmed, according to TV Line.

It has been revealed that the shows' respective executive producers have "an inventive idea" on how to merge the two vastly different TV series. The website also reports that the crossover will happen in the fall, after it has been postponed due to logistics issues. Even though the series are under Fox Network, they are set in two distinct and separate universes. "Bones" is a crime procedural comedy-drama, while "Hollow" is supernatural horror and action series.

Meanwhile, Catermatt posits that the change in the premiere episode title of "Bones" from "The Revelation in the Remains" to "The Loyalty in the Lie" may mean possible friction among characters. Writer Emily Silver posted the change several weeks after new co-showrunner Michael Peterson's announcement early this month.

Season 11's plot will begin six months after Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan (Emily Deschanel) decided to leave Washington D.C. At the end of season 10, the two believed that it was time to focus on their private lives and leave the dangers and risks that come hand-in-hand with investigating cases.

Outgoing executive producer Stephen Nathan told The Hollywood Reporter that the two will go back "to the lives they had" before they chose to prioritize their family. They will be seen back at work at the Jeffersonian, where they have to adjust to different people and circumstances and deal with the "changed dynamics of the workplace." A murder unlike any other will draw them back to investigate and team up with their former colleagues.

"When Booth and Brennan return, life has gone on without them. People have become entrenched in a new structure, a new social order. Time doesn't stop. You can't go back and pick up where you left off. You can only pick up from where you are at any given moment. That's going to have a lot of great conflict and a lot of surprises for the characters and the audience," Nathan said.

Season 11 will premiere Oct. 1 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.
