Should it be surprising to find out that the Boston Celtics will make a pitch to LaMarcus Aldridge as well?

Word of this should really be surprising even though it is believed that landing the current Portland Trailblazer star may be tough to come by.

Aldridge is expected to be among the top names available in the free agent market in the offseason and from the looks of it, he will be looking for a more secure and max contract from teams who can afford to. Among them are the Celtics, a team that can offer him a max contract.

Despite playing with a rag-tag team, the Celtics were somehow able to make the playoffs. And apparently this could be the sign that the dreaded rebuilding mode of the Celtics is finally over.

Aldridge has gained interest from several teams, particularly the deposed champions, the San Antonio Spurs. The Spurs are trying to clear up some cap space and among the players who could be affected include that of Tiago Splitter, Boris Diaw and Patty Mills.

The Celtics, a team known for its winning tradition, could very well prove to be a good place for Aldridge. The Celtics have been known to take care of players and a solid frontcourt that includes Aldridge could pretty much provide the Celts a big boost.

If successful, Aldridge could mentor promising players such as Kelly Olynk and Jared Sullinger. Known to be a good low post player, teaching and combining with them should be a good mix for the boys of Danny Ainge.

Now before we go on dreaming about Aldridge donning the green jersey, the Celtics need to devise a play to lure Aldridge and capture his attention.

Aside from security, Aldridge is bound to want something any NBA player is looking for – an NBA title.

At 29 years old, Aldridge's playing years are reaching the twilight so having an NBA title could pretty much be interesting as well. The Celtics have a winning tradition and Aldridge could help them get back to that for sure.
