Brits vying for MOBO gospel award

|PIC1|The MOBOs will take place at the SECC in Scotland on Wednesday 30 September.

This is the first time that the awards will be held outside of London and the hosts for the evening are soul singer Lemar and X Factor boy band JLS.

This year's gospel category has one or two surprises. Gospel's number one, US based group Mary Mary, are there as is Kiki Sheard. Not surprisingly there will be a lot of talk about the British nominations which are Desire to Worship God, New Direction Crew and Victizzle.

Surprisingly and probably shocking for some is that the popular and hard working Guvna B is not in the mix.

In other news, Michaela, the most talked about poet on the showcase circuit, is launching her album Fixing Barbie on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August 2009, at Stratford Circus in London.

The highly anticipated debut album from Michaela, features some of the most talented gospel artists from the UK.

As a new found member of Identity Drama School and The Guildhall School Of Music And Drama, Michaela's gifts also lie in other artforms. In 2008 Michaela played a lead role in the short movie Malachi, written and directed by Shabazz L Graham, and has also played a lead role in The Royal Court play 'For All The Women Who Thought They Were Mad' in March this year.

Other performers on the night include Rachel Kerr, Monica Palao and Guvna B.
