'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' season 3 spoilers: Previous cliffhangers to be addressed in premiere episode

Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) will resume their budding relationship in the premiere episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3.FOX

Fox's well-loved comedy series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will premiere its third season later this month, which means that the hilarious bunch of police officers from Precinct 99 will spread laughter once again this fall.

After Captain Ray Holt (Andy Braugher) decided to leave his post at the precinct to shift careers and work in PR, his troops were left with no leader. But according to casting news, actor Bill Hader will reportedly appear in the series to portray the role of the precinct's new boss, and he will immediately meet the rest of the detectives from the famed 9-9 squad.

But some fans of the show were confused about Holt's decision to leave the station. Others thought that Braugher will not return next season. However, executive producer Dan Goor explained via The Hollywood Reporter that Captain Holt will still be a part of the show.

"Andre Braugher IS NOT LEAVING THE SHOW!!!! It's scary (and totally understandable) that people might think that after watching the finale. We love Andre and we love writing for Holt, and he's obviously one of the best, most important parts of the show. Period. End of story," Goor stated.

Meanwhile, other spoilers for the first episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" revealed that season 3 will begin with the budding romance between Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero). In an interview with premiere episode director Mike Schur with Deadline, the potential relationship between the two that was disrupted when season 2 ended will pick right off at the start of the third season.

"Dan Goor really runs that show on a day-to-day basis, but he and the writing staff cooked up a lot of really good cliffhangers at the end of last year. Captain Holt was transferred and Jake and Amy had this kind of romantic kiss after having several undercover kisses, the nature of which were a little nebulous," Schur said.

The director also said that all the cliffhangers that were featured in the season 2 finale will be tackled in the premiere episode.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 3 premieres on Sunday, Sept. 27.
