Jake's (Andy Samberg) mother is set to bring chaos in 99th precinct of the New York City Police when the FOX series "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" returns after its winter break.

According to TV Line, Mrs. Peralta, who will be played by Katey Sagal, will come barging in her son's life in one of the first episodes in January. Viewers can also expect that there will be a tense family reunion as Jake's dad Roger (Bradley Whitford) also makes a comeback. The pair has been estranged for years, with the mother having raised Jake as a single parent. Jake was only seven years old when Roger left them, so the get-together will prove to be as interesting as it is awkward. Will there be a lot of drama when the exes see each other after a long time?

Sagal is a veteran actress known for her roles in "Married with Children" (FOX), "Sons of Anarchy" (FX), and "8 Simple Rules" (ABC). Recently, she guest starred in FX's "The Bastard Executioner." Her style of providing comedic relief to any scene will be a great addition to the series, so fans can expect a lot of laughter ensuing when she is on screen. As for Whitford, the award-winning actor has graced several television drama including "The West Wing," (NBC) wherein he portrayed White House Deputy Chief of Staff Josh Lyman. He was also seen in "The Good Guys" (FOX) and "The Mentalist (CBS.)

During the winter finale, the gang got involved in a Christmas Eve robbery case. Jake was planning to buy a gift for Charles (Joe Lo Truglio) and he asked Gina (Chelsea Peretti) to help him pick one. When Charles heard the pair preparing to go to the mall, he decided to tag along, making things difficult for Jake. Fortunately, Gina was a master distractor, as Charles never realized they were shopping for his own gift. A group of robbers chose that time to rob the store, trapping the three inside without a weapon to defend themselves. They could not get hold of anyone in the precinct and had no option but to call Terry (Terry Crews), who was having Christmas dinner with his family.

Luckily, the culprits got arrested as they came sneaking out of the sewer, thanks to the agents' deduction that that would be their exit point. Meanwhile, Amy (Melissa Fumero) was forced to confront her fears of submerging into a freezing lake when she realized Jake and the others were in danger. She wanted to alert Holt (Andre Braugher) and Rosa (Stephanie Beatriz), who were already in the water conducting one of their experiments.

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will return on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at 9 p.m. EST on FOX.
