A brother and sister have been selected as Premier Christian Radio's latest presenters.

Matt Westray, 10, and his sister Emma, 12, are from Croydon in south London.

They were up against 50 other pre-teens for the amazing opportunity to join the Premier team.

The siblings will be hosting a series of child's eye view radio presentations and interviews during the school holidays.

They are both proficient musicians, playing clarinet and flute respectively, and take part in amateur dramatics.

Emma says she would like to be an actress when she grows up. She's a fan of TV presenters, Sue Barker, Bruce Forsyth on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’, and Terry Wogan on ‘Children in Need’.

“These two highly professional presenters are hilarious in my eyes and manage to please both adults and children at the same time,” says Emma.

Matt is a ‘Dr Who’ fan and would like to host a programme on how the series is produced. He also likes Bob Hail from ‘Horrible Histories’.

“He’s a pretend character, based on Peter Snow, and he presents the history news like a weather man. He’s very funny, always appearing to be in a rush," he says.

"I particularly like reporters who ask ordinary people questions in the street – people who are not expecting to be interviewed. I’d like to do that too.”

Both children attend church, with Emma helping out at Sunday school.

Programme Controller and Premier Radio presenter, David Rose, said: “Both Matt and Emma are broadcasting naturals with a healthy interest in current events and sparkling personalities.

"They work particularly well as a duo and, while we hadn’t originally planned to invite two children to take part in the project, it would be impossible to decide between them - so we chose them both.”

Peter Kerridge, Premier Christian Radio’s Chief Executive, said today that the junior broadcaster project will provide two enthusiastic young presenters with first hand experience of a radio station with a national audience.

“They will also provide our listeners with a unique, kids’-eye-view of the world and current events - with the opportunity to throw a few questions at some of our special guests," he said.
