Bus crash in France kills six tourists

Six Moroccan tourists died and seven were severely injured when the bus they were travelling in crashed on Friday into the support pillar of a highway overpass in central France, a police official said.

The crash took place at around 1 a.m. GMT (2 a.m. British time) a few kilometers from Blois, the official said. Nineteen other passengers were slightly injured.

"For reasons unknown, the bus crashed into a bridge pillar dividing the highway," the official said.

The injured were evacuated to hospitals in Blois and Orleans, the official said. Almost 200 police and rescue workers were mobilised in the rescue effort.
