Archbishop Andrew Hutchison, Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada, has requested members of the Church to send him their personal responses to the Windsor Report and to comment on the subject of unity within the Anglican Communion.

Archbishop Hutchison will summarise the contents of the Windsor Report and also comment upon how the responses to the report will be compiled and gathered. For the initial stage, all Anglican primates have been asked to bring their own churches reaction to a meeting of primates in Belfast, N.Ireland next Febrauary.

The Windsor Report was compiled by the Lambeth Commission, a body of leading Anglicans who were given the task by the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, to consider paths that the Communion could go forward with in order to avoid a huge denominational schism. Their aim was to suggest ways in which the Anglican Church may remain together in light of the stresses created by issues such as the blessings of same-sex unions in a Canadian diocese, and the election of a homosexual bishop in the U.S. Episcopal Church.

It was stressed by Archbishop Hutchison, however, that Canadian Anglicans should limit their responses to the issues of unity, and to avoid commenting on the issues that threaten that unity. Canadian Anglicans were invited to send their responses to Windsor@national.anglican.ca
