As Floyd Mayweather Jr. continues to be silent on whether he would accept to fight Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao, rumors are afloat that he could be fighting Miguel Cotto. This sounds like Mayweather's plan B. But what if this matchup doesn't pull through too?

Plan C could be pointing to the flamboyant one facing off once more against Canelo Alvarez. Both fighters faced off last September 14, 2013 with Mayweather winning via majority decision at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. So could it be a rematch of sorts?

This could be the final scenario if he chooses to shun the Pacquiao bout or fail to come to terms with Miguel Cotto. Cotto is seen as the primary choice considering that Mayweather could go after Cotto's WBC title with both fighters playing at a catch-weight of 154.5 or 155.

And if that fails, the third option would be Canelo Alvarez who ironically was someone who many had hoped would fight Cotto for the latter's title. Unfortunately, talks for fizzled between the camps of Alvarez and Cotto, thus opening a whole lot of possibilities for the concerned fighters.

But everything hinges on what Mayweather's move will be. He has been given until the end of the month according to the latest update coming from the Mirror.

Hence, progress on who fights who could be set by February at the earliest. Pacquiao and his camp are reportedly agreeing to any demand that Mayweather will ask for but until Floyd Jr. responds, all these plans for the mega bout will remain up in the air.

If Mayweather continues to hold off, Pacquiao could very well go up against his former sparring mate Amir Khan. Khan has made it known that he deserves to fight either fighter and more or less, the pairings may have been set for Pacquiao and Mayweather.
