Canon EOS 5DS vs EOS 5DR specs: Canon's two new cameras

Canon will be revealing two new cameras this Summer, two full-frame EOS-5D models which will feature 50MP sensors. This means that the new upcoming cameras will offer higher resolution snapping for photographers and snappers, the highest ever made so far.

The cameras will be the Canon EOS 5DS and Canon EOS 5DR. Both will carry similarities to another model in the Canon 5D MkIII.

But what makes the upcoming Canon DSLRs is the 50 MP sensors of course. While both models do seem to be perfectly alike, the difference lies with the 5DS R's ability to cancel the softening affect that is usually made by the low-pass filters at the front of the device's sensors.

Aside from that here are some of the other features the cameras will carry:

  1. Dual DIGIC image processors
  2. 5 fps shooting rate
  3. Autofocus system (61 point AF array)
  4. Intelligent Tracking and Recognition
  5. Intervalometer
  6. Dual memory card slots
  7. Mirror Vibration control system

But for an impressive new offering comes a hefty price to pay.

For the 5DS body, getting one would cost around $3,699 while the 5DS R costs a slightly higher $3,899.

Though the announced release of Canon's two new shooters may lead customers to thinking that the 5D Mark III could be shelved soon, such is not the case. Canon makes it clear that one reason why they came out with the 5DS and 5DS R is to provide consumers more options as far as camera choice under their wing is concerned.

They also pointed out that while a 50MP resolution sounds tempting, there are downsides to expect as well. That includes decrease in burst rates, poor performance in low lit environments and less video options.
