Is Pepper Potts joining Tony Stark in the upcoming "Captain America: Civil War" film?

When Marvel announced that Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man character will be featured in the third installment of the "Captain America" franchise, fans were ecstatic. And of course, they also hope to see Gwyneth Paltrow reprise her role as the playboy genius billionaire's lady love in the film.

Marvel and the producers have yet to announce if there is a possibility of Paltrow joining RDJ and Chris Evans (Steve Rogers/Captain America) in the film.  Nonetheless, the actress expressed her interest in bringing back Tony Stark's girlfriend onscreen.

"I don't know; I've heard rumors that maybe, and I don't know. My fingers are crossed. I would love to be Pepper Potts again at some point in my life," Paltrow said.

But in case the award-winning actress will not be offered to appear in the new "Captain America" film, it will not be the first time that Iron Man will be seen without his quick-witted and charming assistant/ girlfriend by his side. Paltrow is also not part of the roster of cast members in "Avengers: Age of Ultron," the next installment in "The Avengers" franchise.

Reports have mentioned that "Captain America: Civil War" will feature the animosity between Rogers and Stark, which stems after the U.S. government decides to pass a law that requires all superheroes to register and be regulated. Rogers is against it while Stark wants to comply with it.

Other stars in the upcoming Marvel film include highly-acclaimed actor Daniel Bruhl, who will reportedly portray another villain in the movie, as well as Chadwick Boseman who will portray the role of Black Panther.  Frank Grillo, the actor who plays the role of Crossbones in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," will also reprise his character in the upcoming film.

"Captain America: Civil War" is scheduled for release on May 6, 2016.
