'Captain America: Civil War' spoilers: 3 Avengers to die

Marvel Studios

"Captain America: Civil War" is set to pit the superheroes against each other and according to a report from The Hashtag Show, courtesy of Cinema Blend, there are now at least three Avengers who are rumored to be killed off before the end of the film and none of them is the titular hero, Steve Rogers aka Captain America (Chris Evans).

The report states that the first candidate is War Machine aka Colonel James Rhodes (Don Cheadle). This comes as the least surprising death given that the trailer for the movie does showcase Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) cradling a defeated War Machine who could be dead or dying.

However, it is also stated that one of the three death scenes filmed for "Captain America: Civil War" isn't definitive as one of the characters will only be "severely injured" instead of actually dying. Since War Machine was showcased in the trailer, it is indicated that he will be the one that barely survives the fight.

The second rumored death is that of Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). She is rumored to die at the end of the film when the whole team of Avengers face against Baron Zemo (Daniel Bruhl). When she does, Vision (Paul Bettany) will take off and leave Earth as it is implied the two will share some sort of relationship.

Scarlet Witch's death, according to Cinema Blend, is the most likely to be true given that her brother Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) died in the previous film, "Avengers: Age of Ultron." There is also the issue of Scarlet Witch being a part of the X-Men universe so it is likely Marvel will not hold onto her for long.

The third character rumored to die in the film is Sam Wilson aka The Falcon (Anthony Mackie). This is met with some doubt as it is expected he would take up the mantle of Captain America if Steve Rogers dies.

"Captain America: Civil War" opens in theaters this May 6.
