"Castle" season 8's earlier episodes left fans shocked when two core characters, Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) split up.

While fans are speculating and feeling worried that the two are heading for a divorce, it is highly unlikely, as hinted by showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter.

Hawley and Winter assured fans that the couple is not going to stay in splitsville forever, Entertainment Weekly reported.

The breakup is only temporary, adding that the power couple needs to be shaken just to give a realistic vibe to the series.

In other words, the showrunners did not want the characters' relationship to be all happy, because after all, relationships do have issues.

In the latest episode of the series that aired on Monday, Oct. 5, it showed Castle continuing to fight for the love of his life, but didn't succeed.

Although the two successfully solved another case — just like they always do — and even got themselves caught up in a romantic tension, Beckett was still firm in her decision of wanting some space.

The heartbroken Castle may have to find other ways just to have Kate back in his life.

Meanwhile, in the upcoming episode titled "What Lies Beneath," Castle and Beckett will be confronted with a new case, which reportedly involves the death of Castle's childhood idol described to be an anti-social author, as stated in the report from Carter Matt.

The synopsis provided by the news outlet stated:

"When Castle's idol, a famously reclusive author, turns up dead, Castle is determined to solve his hero's murder. But as he and Beckett dig deeper, they discover that truth is stranger than fiction."

Tony Plana guest stars in this episode, according to Gossip and Gab.

Despite the current issues in their relationship, it seems that the Castle and Beckett won't be distancing themselves from each other as a new case awaits them, with the former eager to solve it.

Fans can only hope that the two will get back together sooner.

A new episode of "Castle" airs on Monday, Oct. 12, at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
