NBC is on the lookout for a new host to replace Donald Trump in "Celebrity Apprentice." Last June, the network cut all ties with Trump following his derogatory remarks about Mexican immigrants while announcing his intention to run as president. Now, a new report claims that human rights barrister Amal Clooney is the network's top pick to take over as host of the hit reality show. 

According to the Sunday Express, NBC is looking for a woman who has a strong presence in the boardroom and who also makes an impact on the red carpet, and executives reportedly think that Amal would be the perfect fit for the show. 

An NBC executive reportedly told the website that although they are considering other women for the hosting job, they want the 37-year-old lawyer to host the show because "as well as the cachet of being married to George, she is also a highly respected figure in her field and, since she rarely says anything in public, there is still something of an air of mystery to her." 

Other possible replacements for Trump reportedly include Facebook CEO and "Lean In" author Sheryl Sandberg, and Honest Company founder Jessica Alba. 

Amal married George Clooney in September 2014 in a luxurious wedding ceremony in Venice. A prominent lawyer who has worked on a number of international, high profile cases, she specializes in international law, criminal law, human rights, and extradition. Her clients include Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, and she has also represented the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko. Aside from taking on cases, Amal is currently a regular lecturer at Columbia Law School in New York. 

If Amal does agree to host the NBC show, then she will be hosting the eighth season of "Celebrity Apprentice," wherein celebrities are given a number of tasks as they compete for their favorite charities, and the host decides who stays and who gets fired.
