Last Monday, Chicago Bulls veteran forward Pau Gasol showed age is just a number as he led the team to a huge 92–89 home win over the San Antonio Spurs, which placed them third in the Eastern Conference standings. 

Gasol registered a double-double performance of 18 points and 13 rebounds that came along with four assists, one steal, and three blocks in 30 minutes of action. 

Guard Jimmy Butler helped Gasol also with an all-around performance tallying 14 points, three rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two blocks. 

Aside from Gasol and Butler, starters forward Tony Snell and franchise point guard Derrick Rose also had good offensive performances scoring 11 points each. 

But it was not just the starters who played well against San Antonio, as the Bulls also got help from the bench. 

Leading the reserves was forward Doug McDermott who had 12 points and center Joakim Noah who contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists. 

Following the game, Gasol praised the effort they had in the win and also Noah's splendid showing. 

"Everyone contributed tonight in a positive way. Jo was outstanding and almost had a triple double off the bench with his energy, making plays offensively as well as defensively. Everyone really contributed and it was good to see," Gasol said, according to the Associated Press. 

The Bulls' position in the standings places them just below the leading Cleveland Cavaliers (13–5) and the Indiana Pacers (11–5), who are second in the conference. 

Chicago's win last Monday also ended San Antonio's five-game winning streak. Despite the defeat, it is still second in the Western Conference with a 14–4 record. 

Up next for the Bulls will be the second game of a four-game home stand as they take on the Denver Nuggets today, Wednesday, which will be followed by matchups against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday and the Phoenix Suns on Monday.
