Chicago Bulls roster news 2015: Derrick Rose expected back at training camp

After falling to yet another injury, Derrick Rose is reportedly expected to rejoin the Chicago Bulls this coming Wednesday but at a limited capacity.

Rose suffered an orbital fracture in his left eye after receiving an accidental elbow from one of his teammates during the first day of training camp. Rose will be in attendance but will do more of observing than being on the hardwood.

Physicians have advised the former National Basketball Association (NBA) Most Valuable Player (MVP) to allow his eye to heal, something that will take up to two weeks before he can resume training. For the meantime, Rose will be visited by Bulls coaches so that he can familiarize himself with the new system that first-year head coach Fred Hoiberg plans to implement.

Assuming that all goes well for Rose, he will likely be up and ready once the Bulls open shop for the 2015-16 NBA season. The Bulls face the Cleveland Cavaliers in the season-opener and having Rose against the Lebron James-led Cavs will surely be a big boost.

The Bulls have found themselves making slight adjustments due to injury to key players. Before Rose, Mike Dunleavy underwent back surgery which will keep him out between eight to ten weeks.

Despite that time frame, however, Dunleavy doesn't plan to rush himself to return until he is given the proper clearance to get back on the basketball court.

"I'm coming back when I feel good enough and the doctors have cleared me. Hopefully that will be this season," says Dunleavy via the Chicago Tribune.

In his place is Doug McDermott who is expected to try and fill in the shoes of Dunleavy in the meantime.

The Bulls will have their work cut out for them as they try to improve on their performance. Last season, Chicago managed to reach the Eastern Conference finals before falling to the Cavs in six games.

With a new coach and hopefully a healthy Rose, the Bulls are hoping that they can weather the storm against the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks, and the Miami Heat this season.
