It looks like the Cleveland Cavaliers will have to wait longer to have All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving back as he shut down rumors of a possible return to action against the Oklahoma City Thunder today, Thursday. 

The Cavaliers' next game is a home stand versus the Thunder and in a report by ESPN, a source said Irving will make his season debut in the game.

But Irving denied through a tweet on Wednesday, stating, "Sorry to dwindle the news, but I won't be returning tmrw. It was wrongfully reported. When I do come back you'll hear it directly from me."

Irving has missed the remaining games of last season's Finals, training camp, and preseason, and has yet to play this 2015–16 regular season following his surgery to repair a fractured knee cap.

Reports said that the 23-year-old playmaker is already practicing fully with the team, although for him to return to action, he will need to pass a series of tests. 

Irving's reported return to Cleveland's lineup against the Thunder would have been huge since guard Iman Shumpert, who recently returned from a wrist injury, sustained a groin injury in Tuesday's victory over the Boston Celtics. 

The game against the Celtics was only the second for Shumpert this season, with the recent injury expected to make him miss Thursday's showdown with Oklahoma City. 

If that happens, the Cavs are back to playing without Irving and Shumpert, which is not that bad since they had a great start, although they had a few setbacks, they still managed to stay on top of the Eastern Conference in the absence of the two.  

Currently the Cavaliers are riding a three-game winning streak and are the best team in a very tight Eastern Conference with a 16–7 record, just a game ahead of the second placed Chicago Bulls who are at 15–8.
