Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors: Is Timofey Mozgov on the trading block?

The Cleveland Cavaliers may be looking to trade center Timofey Mozgov.

In a recent episode of "The Vertical Podcast," Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that the Cavaliers had, apparently, discussed a deal involving Mozgov.

According to Wojnarowski, the deal also involved the New Orleans Pelicans; but discussions ultimately went nowhere.

Even though Mozgov may have been a key cog of the Cavaliers team that went to the National Basketball Association (NBA) Finals last year, it's become increasingly clear that he is having a harder time fitting in with this year's roster.

As Fansided pointed out, the Cleveland Cavaliers are looking for more athletic players that they can slot into their rotation, and Mozgov does not seem to fit into that profile.

With Mozgov seemingly out of a rotation spot in Cleveland and with more and more teams choosing to go with small-ball lineups over more conventional combinations, that puts the center in a precarious position, and one that may eventually lead to him being dealt away.

Even though the Cavaliers and the Pelicans may not have been able to agree on a deal, that does not mean that Mozgov will not be traded.

The Cavaliers could simply explore their options again closer to the deadline, and by then, more teams may be willing to take on Mozgov's contract in exchange for other assets.

While Mozgov may soon be on his way out of Cleveland, one player that is, apparently, not being traded is Kevin Love.

In a recent interview with ESPN 850 AM in Cleveland, Cavaliers general manager David Griffin reiterated that the team is not looking to deal Love.

Griffin also said that he believes that he believes the Cavaliers are a better team with Love as opposed to without him.

Love's availability has been a hot topic as of late, and as ESPN's Brian Windhorst pointed out, at least some of the speculation can be attributed to the forward's less than ideal statistics.

The numbers would seem to suggest that Love is simply having a hard time fitting in with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Still, with Griffin expressing his confidence in Love and the absence of any deal thus far, it's still more than likely that Love will be a member of the Cavaliers throughout the rest of the season.

More news about the Cleveland Cavaliers should be made available as the trading deadline draws closer.
