If there is one person who can give some credible insights as far as CM Punk is concerned, it could very well be a close friend such as Paul Heyman.

Appearing at an SI Media Podcast, the popular handler gave his thoughts on the possible plans of the former World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) wrestling champion and aspiring Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter.

As far as the UFC is concerned, Heyman says that Punk wants nothing else but to prove that he can do something special. Punk doesn't have the necessary experience (for now) to probably survive the UFC, but it seems such is what he sees as the main challenge  — to prove that he can be a UFC fighter.

Right now, Punk is injured and has stopped training. Still and all, it is believed that he will make his debut in 2016. It will most likely happen at UFC 200 in July if there will be no further delays and if he will be cleared to compete by trainer Duke Roufus by then. 

How about a WWE return?

For now, Heyman bares that such is improbable. Lines were crossed and wounds are still fresh. Nevertheless, the WWE was able to mend ties with other former personalities despite differences, and chances are Punk will go the same route.

Everyone knows that Punk is not the first one to walk away from the WWE and eventually return. WWE stars like Bret "Hitman" Hart, Bruno Sammartino, and the Ultimate Warrior are just some of the household WWE names who did such.

It may take some time but a return to the WWE is not counted out in the future.

Indeed, Punk is seen as a rebel of sorts but with good reasons. To date, he has something to prove not to the world but to himself as far as the UFC is concerned.

On the WWE, only time will tell. Depending on how things turn out, seeing him back in a WWE ring is not totally out of the picture.
