Conor McGregor next fight: Frankie Edgar starts trash talk to bait 'The Notorious'

Frankie Edgar is considered the next opponent of Conor McGregor as far as the featherweight division is concerned. But such comes with a lot of complications since the UFC seems to be fine with the idea of seeing "The Notorious" moving up to the lightweight division.

With that in mind, it becomes a guessing game on what McGregor does next. Will he fight in the featherweight or lightweight division?

Apparently, Edgar has grown impatient and doesn't want to wait. He has started some trash talking of his own against the brash-talking Irishman, though McGregor has yet to engage.

McGregor continues to be among the big names in the UFC ranks these days and it looks like the UFC is going to swim with the tide. That includes possibly making an exception when it comes to the UFC title reign.

Normally, a move up in division would call for a champion to vacate his current belt – in this case, the UFC featherweight title. But as things stand now, it looks like the UFC will make an exception.

UFC President Dana White is toying with the idea of seeing McGregor hoisting up two UFC title belts - that is if he can defeat reigning champion Rafael dos Anjos per MMA Junkie.

Dos Anjos is aware of McGregor's plans and is apparently ready for the coming of the Irishman as reported via MMA Fighting. So far, nothing has been made official.

With that said, Edgar will have to wait and see what lies ahead. He could end up waiting or getting an immediate shot, but all that would depend on what McGregor and the UFC plans to do first.

The only consolation that Edgar can hold on to right now is that he is considered the top contender for the UFC featherweight plum. Uncomfortable as it may be right now, he can only do one thing – wait.
