Viewers are two episodes away from the end of "Constantine" season 1. It remains to be seen whether or not the NBC series is bound to get a follow-up season, but its fans are hoping for its renewal. Nevertheless, the network has released cool-looking promotional stills, which confirms the return of Papa Midnite who fans saw last in episode 5. 

In the finale episode of the season titled "Waiting for the Man," John and Jim Corrigan will meet again. According to the synopsis of the show, the latter will seek the help of the former con man who, along with Zed, will return all the way from New Orleans to aid the detective in finding a missing girl. This will be the perfect time for Papa Midnite, who is aching to settle the score with "the physical embodiment of God's vengeance," to deploy his revenge plan on the detective who doubles as the Spectre.

The rest of the synopsis reads: "Meanwhile, the truth behind the Rising Darkness comes to light. Harold Perrineau also stars." 

It is still unknown whether "Constantine" will snag a new season or not. According to Deadline, the Jan. 30 episode of the DC Comics adapted series garnered the lowest viewership the show has ever acquired since its premiere back in Oct. 24. The site also noted that the series' constant aloft movement was promising until the airing of its most recent episode (11 percent down from Jan. 23 airing). 

Screen Rant also mentioned the possibility of a superhero film rather than a second season. Apparently, "Constantine" has made it to the lineup of "Justice League Dark" to be helmed by Mexican film director Guillermo del Toro. And Matt Ryans, who play John Constantine in the series, reportedly likes the sound of the formidable anti-hero storming into the big screen. 

While the fate of the show remains undecided, here is synopsis of episode 12 entitled "Angels and Ministers of Grace," which is scheduled to air on Feb. 6:

"An ancient evil resurfaces in a hospital – When John (Matt Ryan) heads to a local hospital to investigate a mysterious attack, he enlists an unwitting Manny (Harold Perrineau) to help him. Meanwhile, a health scare causes Zed (Angélica Celaya) to question the source of her visions. Charles Halford also stars."
