Covert Affairs season 5 spoilers: What's ahead for Annie after summer finale?

Last Tuesday's summer finale of "Covert Affairs" finally answered the question about who was responsible for the Chicago bombing, yet it still posed a lot of interesting surprises, interesting angles, unexpected twists, as well as a lot of questions.

The episode revealed that the bombing in Chicago was just a part of a bigger plot in the story.

Once the remaining six episodes return this fall, viewers will find out that there is a bigger story arc behind the previous events, and they will be greeted with old and new faces.

Covert Affairs executive producers Matt Corman and Chris Ord discussed with TV Line and TV Guide about what went down in the midseason finale and gave a glimpse of what lies ahead for Annie Walker (Piper Perabo), Auggie (Christopher Gorham), as well as the other characters of the show.

The producers revealed to TV Line that the remaining episode of the season will start where it ended in the summer finale. Annie will be more eager to track down Belenko (Shawn Doyle) after he is seen talking to someone on the phone saying that they have missed the real target and that he wants to go to Istanbul as soon as possible to finish what he started. Because of this, Annie will go to Istanbul to get Belenko.

However, TV Guide said that the entire Covert Affairs production team will not go to Istanbul since they are preparing to film in other locations soon.

Furthermore, Covert Affairs was renewed by the USA Network last Oct. 3, 2013 for a 16-episode season five. The first episode of the season aired on June 24.

There were no talks yet about whether the one-hour detective drama will return for season six.

The last six episodes of the current season of Covert Affairs will return this fall.
