"CSI: Cyber" has a new team member in the person of D.B. Russell, who fans would know as the keen forensic botanist from the original "CSI" series, which ended its fifteenth and final season just days ago. Ted Danson, who plays the character, was made a series regular in the spinoff.

Avery will welcome Russell, who is appointed as the new Director of Next Generation Forensics, with open arms.

"He combines the CSI world of fingerprints and DNA with the technology of next generation products. He's the one always bringing in the newest thing, like a baby pacifier, that is Bluetooth," as showrunner Pam Veasey said to CBS News of Danson's character coming over to "CSI: Cyber" season 2.

Those who think about the two clashing in possible headship issues have no reasons to worry. The former herself has her eye on a promotion and she remains the department's head so "there's no conflict" in leadership posts, as Veasey promised to TV Line.

Veasey also promised that the "CSI: Cyber" season 2 premiere will also "immediately close that idea and solve the court case" about the murder of Kramitz's parents last season. She also teased that tomorrow's season opener will feature a "fun reveal of a new relationship within our team."

Speaking of which, Nelson, who  in the new season ditches the suits for a more casual look in a bid to become more of himself, helps Russell get a date. Veasey described him to TV Line as "the old-fashioned guy who still walks up to people and says 'Hello,' to the world of dating apps."

In "CSI:  Cyber" season 2, Avery and Russell will team up to find the culprit behind a burglary and homicide, which the criminal managed to do after remotely hacking into the security system of the targeted home.
