Dallas Cowboys defensive end Greg Hardy faced a number of off-field issues in the past and last Sunday was involved in an altercation with special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia, but despite all that team owner Jerry Jones wants to give him an extension deal. 

Jones was with his son Stephen and they were interviewed at 105.3 The Fan last Tuesday, according to ESPN, and there the Cowboys owner discussed how they see Hardy as a part of the Cowboys for a long time. 

"When we initially signed, talked to him, asked him to join the team, it was not only with the idea of the short term but a long-term purview," Jones said in the interview. 

"He's, relatively speaking, a young player, and he certainly has the kinds of skills and impact that we want to look to the future with the Cowboys," he added. 

Hardy entered the National Football League (NFL) as a sixth-round pick by the Carolina Panthers where he played his first five seasons before being signed by Dallas last March to a one-year deal. 

But last April, the NFL handed him a 10-game suspension, which was later reduced to four games for violating the league's personal conduct policy. 

Because of the sanction, the 27-year-old defensive end has played only two games so far this 2015 season, having eight tackles and three sacks. 

Stephen, who is the Cowboys' executive vice president, said in the interview that there is a huge possibility that an extension deal will be given to Hardy, ESPN also reported. 

Hardy is one of the most efficient defensive ends in the league and the Cowboys certainly need him especially with their star offensive players getting injured this season. 

The Cowboys are struggling this season and are currently riding a four-game losing skid, which they hope to end when they play against the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday.
