Dallas Mavericks rumors 2015: Chandler Parsons to be regular sixth man in rotation?

Chandler Parsons would normally start for the Dallas Mavericks on any given day if healthy. But as everyone knows, the Dallas Mavericks star is coming off an injury.

Hence, Parsons is on restricted minutes right now until he gets back to 100% playing form. Although it may be frustrating for Parsons who wants to do more, it is a process that he has to satisfy first before being elevated to his regular playing time.

Parsons pitched the idea of coming off the bench instead to head coach Rick Carlisle as he continues to try and make a full recovery after undergoing surgery for his right knee. Right now, the 27-year-old small forward is trying to get his legs back to shape before going full blast.

However and seeing that Parsons has been doing a fine job off the bench, team owner is hinting that having Parsons for a sixth man role could work to the team's advantage even if Parsons is back to 100% health.

He singles out a former Maverick player, Jason Terry, who benefitted from such. In fact, it even led to Terry being named the NBA Sixth Man of the Year back in 2008–09. So if that worked on the guard who now plays for the Houston Rockets, why not Parsons?

It remains to be seen if Parsons would be coy to the idea, seeing that he has been used to being a starter. But such is the same scenario that Terry had back then so it could be déjà vu just in case Parsons agrees.

At the end of the day, it will be all about what is best for the team moving forward. Parsons is a key player but if it means adding more wins for the Mavs, the ploy could eventually work to the benefit of all.
