'Dark Souls 3' DLC release date rumors: August release for first DLC featuring new weapons and armors

Xbox Marketplace/From Software

"Dark Souls 3" will have its DLCs released before the end of 2016. It's expected to have at least two, with the first one getting released around August, according to the report done by Movie News Guide. The second one, however, is rumored to be released around December as a Christmas treat for its players. But then again, FromSoftware and Bandai Namco still hasn't given any official statement for the matter, so most players can just hope for a more definite date.

The two expansions are going to have entirely different content, according to iTech Post, and that the DLC will be free for Season Pass bearers. In the same report, the description in the Season Pass says that the player will face new enemies and bosses, as well as travel new maps and obtain new armor sets and weapons. As such, the Pass is now available for preorder on Steam.

However, one thing was certain: the DLCs for "Dark Souls 3" will be the last content to be made for the "Dark Souls" franchise. In an article made by Gamespot, the creator of the game, Hidetaka Miyazaki, announced that they're already working on another project in FromSoftware, and that the studio no longer has any intention of releasing more content for the game--regardless of whether it's a spin-off or a sequel. With that being said, any rumor or speculation for Dark Souls 4 will finally be put into rest.

"Dark Souls 3" was first released in Japan last March 2016 and has been released globally a month after that. It's the fourth and final installment for the series and is available to play across different platforms--the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows. It's an action role playing game made by Bandai Namco and has become one of the most iconic games around, especially for its uniquely challenging gameplay and immersive storyline.
