Dark Souls 3From Software, Bandai Namco

Several days ago, the details regarding the "Dark Souls 3" season pass and its two DLC packs were leaked, as reported by VG24/7, but the details have now been officially posted on the Xbox Marketplace and on Steam.

"'Artorias of the Abyss' ('Dark Souls') and 'The Lost Crowns' ('Dark Souls II') were known for expanding the experience of 'Dark Souls' in a meaningful way, and the season pass for 'Dark Souls 3' will carry on this tradition by supporting the game with exciting new content after launch," reads the official statement from Bandai Namco.

According to Attack of the Fanboy, the Steam page confirms that the season pass covers the release of two DLC packs, and consumers who avail of the season pass will get access to both DLC packs at a discounted price compared to the cost of buying them individually.

The season pass is posted to cost $24.99, although the individual price of each DLC has not yet been announced. A report from IGN states that the publication has reached out to publisher Bandai Namco for prices regarding the season pass and DLC packs but no update has yet been released to the public.

The DLC packs, which are still unidentified at the time of writing, are stated to introduce new enemies, new weapons, new locations and new armor sets.

It is also pointed out that players who pre-order "Dark Souls 3" will get the first "Dark Souls" as a free bonus. The latter game has only recently been confirmed to be included in the Xbox One's backwards compatibility library.

"Dark Souls 3" continues the franchise's tradition of delivering a dark and desolate game world, high-octane action mixed with RPG elements, and extreme difficulty. The newest entry will introduce new gameplay mechanics, such as backstabbing opponents and sidestepping to avoid incoming attacks.

"Dark Souls 3" will be released for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One on April 12.
