'Dark Souls III' DLC, updates: Patch 1.04 goes live with gameplay and item improvements

While it has just been a week after publisher Bandai Namco and developer FromSoftware dropped the global release of "Dark Souls III," the newest franchise installment has already received a number of updates. This week, patch 1.04 has just gone live introducing improvements in gameplay and in-game items.

In the announcement posted by Bandai Namco, the 1.04 patch update for "Dark Souls III" went live at the start of the wee, but the release has been a staggered roll out for all platforms. In addition, the patch 1.04 is only for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of the game. Considered as a minor, direct patch, the new update has been relegated to a lesser patch 1.03.1 for the PC version.

Although the patch updated differently for each version, the new update contains almost the same improvements, and introduces changes across all the versions of "Dark Souls III". Most noted among the tweaks is that the new patch adjusts gameplay and performance levels on a number of weapons, notably the Greatsword. Aside from the Greatsword, other melee weapons also improved on their battle and in-game performance levels, including Dancer's Enchanted Sword, Winged Knight Twinaxes; as well as Soul's Greatsword and Farron Flashsword.

Aside from the battle performance adjustments on selected weapons, the new patch also addressed issues that were found in previous patch versions of "Dark Souls III". With the patch 1.04 for the console platforms and update 1.03.1 for the PC, players don't need to worry anymore about being locked out of using some items after clearing the game, particularly when going back to Road of Sacrifices, Farron Keep, and Cathedral of the Deep.

Bandai Namco has yet to announce when the next update will be. However, fans can expect the updates and improvements – even possible expansion content – for "Dark Souls III", given that the latest franchise installment is now one of the fastest-selling games for the publisher.
