Fans who have been waiting for "Dark Souls III" will need to rein in their excitement a bit. Although the release of the game is set to commence soon, the launch dates for the new "Dark Souls" franchise installment are set a few weeks apart. "Dark Souls III" was released first in Japan today, while the game is set to roll out for those wanting the English version on April 12.

Publisher Bandai Namco has yet to clarify why there are different release dates for Japan and the English version of the game. However, the later release of "Dark Souls III" to global fans is compensated by Bandai Namco pulling out all the stops for the roll-out.

Aside from the regular game release, there will also be "Collector's Edition" and "Day One" bundles, coming with bonus items for hardcore fans of the franchise. The "Day One" bundle includes the "Dark Souls III" game and a starter guide, along with the game's soundtrack in exclusive packaging. Meanwhile, the "Collector's Edition" adds to the game an art book, game map, special collector's box and a 10-inch Red Knight Statue.

Bandai Namco has also included a surprise treat for Xbox One fans of the franchise as pre-orders for "Dark Souls III" also come with a digital copy of the original "Dark Souls" game, already tweaked as an Xbox One backwards-compatible game.

Meanwhile, fans should not expect an early review of "Dark Souls III" anytime soon despite the early release in Japan. According to Game Spot, there is an ongoing review embargo for the game. While the industry follower already played at least the first hour of the game, a full review of the English version of the game will not be released by observers until April 4, when the embargo is lifted.
