'Dead Cells' news: Roguelike action platformer receives new main content update before leaving early access

"Dead Cells," the rogue-lite, metroidvania action-platformer developed and published by independent game studio Motion Twin based in Bordeaux, France, released its last main content update on March 7 before leaving early access sometime this year.

Steve "indieCatapult" Filby, a producer at Motion Twin, announced the news about Update 6: The Hand of the King via Steam Community on March 7. Filby said that there will be a new boss for players to face — he will be very hard to fight but he will not be the last boss "Dead Cells" players will be encountering. There will also a new level called The Castle because "it's all shiny and fit for the habitation of some royal highness" with familiar yet interesting enemies for players to fight to the death with.

Filby also said they have added the fourth difficulty level labeled as "Nightmare" which is designed to help players get more cells at the expense of stronger enemies. In the Nightmare mode, players must also take into consideration that they will not be able to utilize any healing flask refill.

Filby also said that some level designs have been updated. Included among these are the level designs for Fog Fjord, Graveyard, Sepulchre and Ossuary. Meanwhile, the Sleeping Sanctuary has also been updated, adding different mobs at higher difficulty levels. Filby also said that they have added more weapons and have done a couple of balancing for the game. Players may click on this link to see the full patch notes about Update 6.
