'Deadpool' updates: Character standee lets fans sit on Deadpool's lap

Marvel Entertainment and 20th Century Fox will soon release the marketing material for the "Deadpool" movie just in time for the upcoming holidays. This Christmas-themed standee will come to theaters on Thanksgiving, but the IGN staff has already met the awesome 3D standee.

The 68" wide by 30" deep by 102" tall movie version of Marvel Comics' antihero is seen wearing Santa's hat while sitting on a plush red chair.

There are instructions for interacting with the standee, which say that fans can sit on Deadpool's lap and take a photograph, just like what young kids do with sitting Santa Claus attractions in malls.

IGN's report also revealed that more than 1,500 standees will be released in various theaters in the U.S., and it will also come to major cities worldwide.

"Deadpool" stars Ryan Reynolds as the disfigured mercenary named Wade Wilson, who agreed to be subjected to a laboratory experiment that helped him develop a regenerative healing power in hopes of curing his cancer. However, the experiment failed and ended in a very disastrous result that turned him into a foul-mouthed antihero dubbed as Deadpool.

"Deadpool" director Tim Miller and Reynolds confirmed with Collider earlier this month that the film will not stray far away from the original character in the comic books.

Miller said that the film will feature a "pansexual Deadpool." Reynolds, meanwhile, revealed that there is some sexuality involved in the upcoming movie, and the studio was fine with it.

"You kinda think you have moments when you're shooting where you think, 'This is, uh, a little excessive. This is a comic book movie. Are we gonna get away with this?' But so far so good. Studio hasn't crushed us with anything," the actor shared.

"Deadpool" will be released in theaters on February 12, 2016.
