DC is revealing one more anti-hero film, as "Deathstroke" is set to be a standalone movie, with Gareth Evans as its director.

Evans, best known for directing the explosive action movie "The Raid Redemption," is now in talks about DC's upcoming standalone movie for the supervillain assassin Deathstroke. Evans, apparently, will also be writing for the movie.

Still, Deathstroke fandoms might want to hold their breaths as there have been no actual deals inked yet between DC and Evans. As for the lead role, it is speculated that Joe Manganiello (from "Magic Mike") would be the ideal leading man for the DC assassin. Manganiello has also been cast as the same assassin supervillain for Ben Affleck's upcoming solo "Batman" movie and may also possibly appear in "The Justice League."

Deathstroke, for those unfamiliar, is also known as Slade Wilson and is a regular supervillain in the DC universe, frequently appearing in Teen Titans comics, as well as Batman comics. Deathstroke is a mercenary and assassin for hire who also happens to possess enhanced speed, strength, reflexes, agility, and durability through an experimental serum.

As such, he is portrayed in the DC universe as having the strength of 10 men, superhuman speed, and lightning-quick reflexes. Apart from physical prowess, Deathstroke is also a master tactician like his enemy, Batman, and can use up to 90 percent of his brain and can speak multiple languages.

Unlike Batman though, Deathstroke has superhuman levels of regeneration and can recover from a fatal injury much faster than a normal person. Deathstroke has gone toe-to-toe with some of the most powerful superheroes in the DC universe and is a regular enemy of Batman himself.

Evans being a veteran to martial arts movies and gripping action sequences actually has a lot of the fans excited as they see the director as a perfect fit for the level of quality need for a Deathstroke adaptation.

No exact release or production dates have been announced yet for the upcoming standalone movie.
