Dell has already entered into a partnership with tech giant Microsoft for a Surface Enterprise Initiative that allows it to market the latter's products like its Surface Pro line. This, however, does not mean that it will only have Microsoft tablets in its product line. With its wide range of both desktop and mobile workstation products, Dell will also be making its own hybrid 2-in-1 device, its "Surface-like" XPS 12.

According to reports, a leak from German tech site Giga pointed to a new, hybrid tablet device from Dell, and if the leak proves to be accurate, it will give the Surface Pro lineup a run for its money.

According to speculations, one of the most noted features of the rumored XPS 12 is its display. Reportedly, the new Dell workhorse will have a 4K Ultra HD display with 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution. In addition, the display itself will have an InfinityEdge design like Dell's XPS 13 that would make for a much wider screen area by cutting down on bezel size.

The XPS 12 is also rumored to come with the newer Thunderbolt 3 port, which makes data transfer much faster than traditional USB 3.0 connections. In the features sheet that leaked online, the device is also listed to sport an 8-MP and 5-MP main and secondary cameras, a 10-hour battery life, and a magnetic, detachable backlit keyboard with precision touchpad.

While some features of the XPS 12 have already been leaked, there is no word about the hybrid's performance since the leak didn't mention key specs of the device such as the processor, RAM, and memory storage. However, if the speculations placing the XPS 12's release by next month are true, Dell is likely to give out some details in the weeks to come.
