'Destiny' expansion: Sparrow Racing League game mode revealed at PSX 2015

Bungie

The PlayStation Experience (PSX) 2015 is ongoing this weekend and "Destiny" fans are waiting for announcements on what's new for the video game.

Developer Bungie confirmed last month that the team would be present in San Francisco for the PlayStation Experience, which just started yesterday. Prior to that, speculations were rife about the game releasing a new expansion.

However, there has been no announcement on the expansion news at the event, but Bungie did reveal a new gaming mode — the Sparrow Racing League — for "Destiny: The Taken King," which runs for a limited time only.

GameRant reports that the Sparrow Racing League will be available for "The Taken King" as a limited-time event starting on Dec. 8 until Dec. 29.

The Sparrow Racing idea had existed for a long time and finally, Bungie decided to add it to the game.

In this event, players will have bragging rights and earn rewards such as new sparrows and gears, which will only be given to those who participate in the event. Tess Everis, a vendor in the Tower, will reportedly offer items during that event.

The Sparrow Racing League will also introduce new Mars and Venus maps intended for the racing event. Players who have a copy of "The Taken King" expansion can play the mode for free, GameRant's report mentioned.

Fans of the game will surely be happy that this new game mode is finally introduced because it has been a requested idea in the "Destiny" community.

However, they are still those who are disappointed that news on the expansion was not announced, as many fans have been requesting for an expansion to keep their interest in the game.

While the expansion announcement was absent, it didn't stop fans from having speculations as to what a new expansion or new "Destiny" game would offer players.

A separate report form GameRant stated that a new expansion could introduce Vex or Cabal themes, with new storylines, raid, missions, and strikes.

MoviePilot also shared some of the game changes that should be carried over to a new "Destiny" game, if ever it happens sooner. These include a Christmas-theme for The Tower; making vehicles contribute more to the game; and the presence of a class items kiosk, among others.
