"Destiny" had a huge problem when "The Dark Below" DLC was released. It had major issues and the team behind the game wouldn't want to make the same mistake again.

Luke Smith, Bungie designer, shared that the major issue with the previous DLC was the error in the loot system. When players completed the Vault of Glass, they couldn't actually use the loot they got. The vendors still didn't value these loots. Hence, the players were left with obsolete loots.

Another major issue brought about by the loot system was that players got stuck at level 29. The players had a hard time levelling up and it even resulted to the Forever 29 meme, which only "Destiny" players would clearly relate to.

Now, the "House of Wolves" DLC is set to correct these errors and improve on them. Smith told Neogaf that there will be less grinding and the loot system will make a huge improvement.

"Our philosophy about rewards/loot continue to evolve as we see how players play and react. We will continue to improve acquisition stories and frequency, lessen the grind and get players to the fun parts of their arsenal faster," Smith said.

Smith shared that due to the improved loot system, players will reach level 32 easier and that players will enjoy better drop rates. However, there's still one major issue that Smith and his team needs to work on — The Exotic Shards.

Smith explained, "Shards are a barrier between you and equipping a sweet new piece of gear. We want fewer barriers to equipping upgrades. The shard economies erect these barriers between players and the new piece of gear they just got. We're not intending to adjust the shard economy for this Tier -- we don't want to invalidate player effort (again). But removing the barrier between that new drop you're excited to get and actually being able to equip it as a member of your arsenal are something we will do going forward."

Removing the shards is actually very big news and this is very similar to what "World of Warcraft" did. After this update, instead of players carrying their unusable items around, they can now use them in less time. Nonetheless, the update also removes reforging and has limited the equipment that can be enchanted.

There is still no definite release date for the "Destiny House of Wolves" DLC. But according to Cinema Blend, a leak showed that the DLC may just be released on March 10.
