"Destiny," the popular first person shooter developed by Bungie, is expected to get a "major content release" to be available to players later this year. According to Activision executive Eric Hirshberg, players will be able to immerse themselves in the upcoming expansion pack titled "House of Wolves" but in addition to the upcoming expansion pack, there will be lots of additional content to be released in the foreseeable future. However, complete details have not yet been announced.

Hirshberg stated, as quoted by Eurogamer, "In Q2, we expect to launch the game's second expansion pack, House of Wolves, and later this year, we will announce a major content release for the fall, so stay tuned."

According to a leak that was revealed earlier this year, something called "Comet: Plague of Darkness" will be released in the coming months and will feature new subclasses, weapon types, Player vs. Player maps, story missions, locations, and more. With the amount of content rumored to be included in the upcoming expansion pack, it could very well fit onto a whole disc.

News regarding the major content release is not nascent since the developing studio had already stated back in 2014 that it was working on a whole new expansion. Furthermore, with the number of "Destiny" players currently registered on "Destiny" servers (approximately 16 million users), there will have to be additional content to appease their appetite.

Activision has already invested over $500 million in the title and it does not look like the publishing company is going to sever ties with the game anytime soon. The game has already scaled the billion dollar mark in terms of revenue, joining the ranks of "Call of Duty" and "Skylanders" in the process.

It is possible that the major content release will be released in the fourth quarter of 2015 but neither Bungie nor Activision has given its confirmation on this rumor.

"House of Wolves" is expected to be released between the months of April and June.
