Developer Bungie dropped a surprise for "Destiny" players in its year-end update. As a way to thank fans for their continued support for Bungie's sci-fi futuristic shooter, the developer said that all "Destiny" players will receive free items when 2016 starts.

Posting the announcement on the official Bungie update website, the developer stated that all "Destiny" players will receive 15 Strange Coins and 15 Motes of Light. The free items will be unlocked on every player's inventory on January 7 via a package from the Postmaster.

In addition to the free items, Bungie also mentioned that there will be an exclusive Emblem that the developer will hand out for free for deserving Guardians. However, in order to qualify, players will need to log in between Jan. 7 and Jan. 10 and complete any playable game activity in the Director. The additional free emblem will be given away to qualified "Destiny" players on Jan. 12.

Aside from announcing the free items come 2016, the post also revealed the winners for the Sparrow League Racing Film Festival, where prizes ranged from in-game player Emblems to a new PS4 console system. However, Bungie stated that although winners were already showcased, the developer will be the one to contact them by early next year for their prizes.

Bungie also reminded players that the in-game Sparrow Racing League only has a week-cycle remaining and will end on Dec. 29.

Bungie has been keeping 'Destiny" players busy with a number of new updates and surprises for its fans. Fresh from a Year Two opening and a third expansion, "The Taken King" launch, Bungie has just updated "Destiny" with a major patch, update 2.1.0.

Aside from introducing new weapons, gear, and in-game items, Bungie also keeps on tweaking improvements and features in-game. The developer recently unlocked another weapons-rebalance patch for the game, and also unlocked another Iron Banner event.
