"Destiny" players need to clear up a lot of space if they want to install the upcoming "Destiny" Patch 2.0 in their consoles.

Game company Bungie announced during its weekly news roundup that since there will be a number of new features that will come with the upcoming patch, which is set to be released before the highly anticipated "The Taken King" DLC comes out, it will take a huge amount of space.

"Update 2.0 marks the beginning of 'Destiny' Year Two. We want to make sure you're prepared when it drops, so 'Destiny' Player Support is doing the most to ensure you know your foe. All 'Destiny' players will be required to download and apply the Update to continue playing even if they do not purchase 'Destiny: The Taken King'," the website states.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One users should have at least 18 GB of free space to be able to download the update. For those who play the highly-popular game using last-generation consoles PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, at least 20 GB of free space is needed in order to download the update.

"Destiny" Patch 2.0 is expected to roll out beginning Sept. 8.

Meanwhile, the latest quest system for Year 1 content and the updated Ghost will also be released on the same day as the "Destiny" Patch 2.0, according to "Destiny" executive producer Mark Noseworthy.

In his Twitter account, Noseworthy answered a fan's inquiry regarding the schedule of the next story quest that will come out for the game's Year 1 content. The game producer said that players do not have to wait until "The Taken King" comes out in order to enjoy the latest quest offering of the game.

"Destiny: The Taken King" is slated to be released on Sept. 15, alongside the start of the game's Year Two offering.
